Frequently Asked Questions

How do I place a raw pet food order?

You can view our offerings and place an order through our Online Store!
We want to support you in placing your first order! Below is a walk-thru order guide that will lead you on the step-by-step process of submitting a raw pet food order via our online store.

  • Our Order Deadline for all Service Locations is 5 days prior to the delivery date at 10:00 a.m. Please visit our Service Location page to see full details of your specific pickup location.

  • We cannot accept orders after the order deadline. We ask customers to submit an order about 5 days prior to delivery. Submitting your order by this order deadline date guarantees fulfillment + delivery of the items in your order (unless a rare inventory issue arises).

  • We require all customers to have a credit card applied to their account. A hold will be placed on your card and the charge will be finalized on the fulfillment date. [Please note: We do charge a 3% processing fee on all orders]

All orders are non-refundable. This policy is in place to avoid potential last-minute cancellations as we are a very small family business and can’t afford to keep our freezers running for products not sold.

    Sushi grade definition:

The Food Code (3-402.11-12) requires that fish that is served raw or undercooked be frozen for the destruction of parasites. This requirement includes the serving and sale of “Sushi” in restaurants, bars and retail food stores.

This fish must be frozen under one of the following procedures:

    Held at - 4°F (-20°C) for 7 days (168 hours)

Frozen at -31°F (- 35°C) until solid and then held at that temperature for at least 15 hours.

Frozen at -31°F (- 35°C) until solid and then held at – 4°F (-20°C) temperature for at least 24 hours.

  • All products are transported frozen in an Oregon Department of Agriculture-inspected freezer truck and then stored in our ODA-licensed warehouse freezers at -11 F degrees. Once we fulfill orders, customers receive products frozen directly from our delivery freezer truck.

  • This salmon product will have been frozen for a minimum of 2-3 weeks before delivery and is ready to feed. We recommend all fresh fish be frozen for 3 weeks before feeding to kill any potential parasites. There have been reports of freshwater, Pacific Northwest salmon carrying parasites that can cause poisoning in your dogs (also known as “salmon poisoning”). Salmon from the Pacific Northwest should be frozen solid to an internal temperature of −4°F (−20°C) for at least 24 hours prior to feeding raw or thoroughly cooked to eliminate the risk of salmon poisoning. For more info: please read this article!

All the above being noted, this salmon is from the ocean, so it’s not fresh-water Pacific Northwest salmon. The geographic distribution of the "salmon poisoning disease" is limited to the Pacific Northwest range of freshwater (lakes, rivers, creeks, etc) from California north to Vancouver Island. We will not offer any freshwater fish that may contain the parasite that causes salmon poisoning. You should, however, continue to ask any suppliers or sources where you plan to feed raw salmon for more information about where the salmon has come from.

If you feel more comfortable cooking the salmon to kill off the parasites … steam it. This will preserve more of the omega-3s.

  • “Pork has been unfairly vilified as an unhealthy or unclean meat. The myths spread about pork have resulted in many raw feeders that refuse to feed pork to their pets. However, pork can be a nutritious and affordable protein to use in raw and cooked diets for dogs and cats.

There are many myths surrounding pork. Some of these myths are based on half-truths and past problems, while others are inaccurate. These myths stem from a misunderstanding of the protein and how it can be used in cooked or raw diets.” Read more on Pork Myths in Raw Feeding at PerfectlyRawsome.com

  • We cannot take back any raw pet food products. We must ensure the safety of raw food. Once we sell it to someone, we have no way of knowing if the food was stored properly being immediately placed in the freezer once they got the product home or if it was left sitting in the garage, car or kitchen counter overnight.

That being said please contact us and we will discuss options.

**If you believe your dog is just being “picky”, we’re happy to support you in getting creative to entice them to eat their raw food. Contact us for a FREE 20-minute phone consultation!
